So far I think I've only had one person tell me my walkthroughs are misleading. I wouldn't do them if I couldn't do that. But (I hope) I always point out the things I don't like so much or things that don't work. Despite the nonsense I talk and my boxing-glove-gilded keyboard playing. I do worry a bit that so many people seem to buy it on the basis of my videos. To whatever extent the multis/effects effects have become overused and are now cliché, all the better. Guy should get a commission from Project Sam, as his videos more than anything else pushed me over the edge, though I only got S1, as my budget could barely afford that.įilm scoring? I have no interest in that at all, but on the other hand I aspire to allude to various contemporary styles that - among other things - appear in films, and the sound is absolutely there and top-notch. Maybe it is more suited for somewhat older-school scoring (not that I get much of a chance to do that), and I'm not sure how the whole multis and mixed combination patches will work out for me - when I eventually get around to downloading it and using it - but it's a different approach and worth trying I think, and as Guy says "it's just got that SOUND, hasn't it." Still quite a bit of money, but it's a hell of a lot of good sounding content I think.

Sometimes less versatile but a cinematic sound instantly, and lots of great multis. After three days of listening to Guy's dulcid tones, and being wracked with indecision, and it may be madness, but I finally decided to get S1 plus S2 plus Animator for a total of €667. Sam is known for capturing recordings that sound great on their own without processing and also capturing mixed ensembles etc. It's probably a little more standard recordings. And no, using it in a VST doesn't get in the way or impede your flow at all.Īs far as comparing Ableton's non-Sam Orchestral Pack (499 Euro), I can't really say. However there is an Ableton specific version that loads in it's own interface, but it is much smaller and is just a fraction of the samples and instruments of the Project Sam version.

You can also load it in the full Kontakt if you own it.

PROJECT SAM SYMPHOBIA 3 VS FREE
It's a free version of the Kontakt Sampler by Native Instruments that is for playing certain registered instruments. Project Sam Orchestra Essentials loads in a separate VST instrument called Kontakt Player. Steinway wrote:So you load the Project Sam Orchestra Essentials as an instrument in the instrument library, just like I did for Session Drums, and it then works similarly, albeit with Project Sam's unique control interfaces? Or perhaps it would be as a separate VST appliance? Just wanted to make sure that doesn't pose a problem.

PROJECT SAM SYMPHOBIA 3 VS DRIVER
The driver involved is labeled "MME/Direct X" and appears to give good, clean results. It also appears that I may not have an ASIO driver - the Realtek I'm running seems to work well with Live Suite 8 with minimal latency. I was wondering if that live pack would run better in Ableton than Project Sam's - again, being a "family member." I prefer the sound and selection of the Sam software, as long as it will run efficiently and not get in the way of whatever creativity I may still have. I appreciate all the help - I've worked for years with midi and stand alone modules, but have decided to go computer based and of course I'm a bit ignorant on how the computer based operation all ties together.Īlso my last post was a bit confusing - i really meant to compare Project Sam's Orchestral Essentials with Ableton's own Orchestral Live Pack (the 499 Euro one). So you load the Project Sam Orchestra Essentials as an instrument in the instrument library, just like I did for Session Drums, and it then works similarly, albeit with Project Sam's unique control interfaces? Or perhaps it would be as a separate VST appliance?
